About the Company

Under the Same Sun is a Christian charity organization dedicated to the well-being of persons with albinism. Their goals are to end discrimination and violence against these persons while facilitating inclusion and participation through advocacy and education.

Objectives:
  • Create a fully responsive solution backed by WordPress CMS
  • Showcase their updated branding with an emphasis on photography
  • Build on opportunities for storytelling and impact awareness
  • Present users with donation and involvement opportunities where possible
PHASE 1

Prototyping

A long-established charity, Under the Same Sun already had an online presence. But their existing website was centred around a lot of technical and research content albinism issues in Africa, which was moved to a separate advocacy website.

They needed a much more visual web design for a stronger emotional impact, and to better tell their story. At the same time, they still needed to provide education on persons with albinism and the issues they face.

PHASE 2

Style

With orange being Under the Same Sun’s primary brand colour, we used a palette of black, white and a light blue to contrast the use of this bold eye-catcher on buttons, icons and areas where user attention was most important. We wanted to create a feeling of hopefulness and positivity.

Phase 3

Bringing it All Together

Under the Same Sun’s new Refoundry-based website not only improves on storytelling capabilities, but also better shares their on-the-ground impact. It uses photography as a visual connection to the cause, and has been designed to increase donation conversions, further helping persons with albinism.
